International Cleopatra Music Festival To Mark Resort Town Of Marmaris
The amphi-theatre with 2,500 people capacity in Cleopatra Island in Turkey's Aegean resort town of Marmaris in Muğla, will host the International Cleopatra Music Festival for the first time after 2,000 years. The amphi-theatre with 2,500 people capacity in Cleopatra Island in Turkey's Aegean resort town of Marmaris in Muğla, will host the International Cleopatra Music Festival for the first time after 2,000 years.
The artists to gather from different corners of the world will be performing in Cleopatra costumes, within the event to be hold by Philharmonic Association on October 10-13.
After their arrival to the district by boats, the participants of the festival will hold a parade, and some small-scale performances will be offered to music lovers.
The concerts and events will be free and open to the public.
Cleopatra Island (Sedir Island) is a renowned tourism attraction for foreigner tourists and is famous for its beach made from seashells. According to legend this organic sand had been brought by ships from the Red Sea especially for Cleopatra by ships from North Africa, so the queen and her lover, the Roman commander Antonius could meet on the island.
The ancient remains, such as the amphi-theatre ancient port and Agora are thought to date back to 1,000 B.C, in the island captivating tourists, covered with olive trees.
