Germany Federal Chairperson urged the international community to find an immediate solution before the UN for migration crisis in Aegean and Mediterenean, at her revisit to Bodrum and referred to her observations from previous visit to Greek Island of Kos.
Roth warned that no one can tell whether there are terrorists among the migrants and described the island as "a powder barrel" after the migrant flow.
"In the Greek Island of 30 thousand population, the number of Syrian, Burmese, Ethiopian, Iraqi, Pakistani, Kenyan and Eritrean migrants reached to more than 7 thousand on August 11. The Greek government or authorities, unfourtanetly, have not taken the measures to prevent the migration flow. Migrants on the island don't have a shelter to sleep, eat and use toilet. They sleep at parks and on streets. In the touristic island, an epidemic crisis is a matter of time due to lack of medical aid. For this reason, migrant groups have started to kick up a row" said Roth.
German chairperson also refered to Turkey's handling of migrant crisis saying, "Although the number of migrants exceeded 2 million, Turkey has been helping the migrants with devotion. The country serves a model; none of the other countries have embraced those migrants this much. However, the migrant flow exceeded the power of Turkey a long time ago".
Having told that the problem has become an international one, Roth said, "I think Turkey should not be left alone because Europe play part in this crisis too. Europe faces the biggest migrant flow since the 2nd World War. Therefore, before the UN, an emergent solution should be created. I will launch the necessary works to prevent the crisis particularly in touristic Bodrum and Greek islands. If the international measures are not taken and long-term international projects are not produced, neither Turkey nor Greece or other UN country can handle this crisis."
